  • Uncle Wiggily's Adventures

    Howard R. Garis

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, May 23, 2014)
Uncle Wiggily Longears is the central character in a series of nearly 18,000 children’s stories, all written by Howard R. Garis, beginning in 1910. The stories began as a serial in the Newark News, with a new story appearing six days a week for thirty-seven years. The elderly rabbit gentleman relies on a red, white, and blue, barber-shop pole, walking stick due to his rheumatism. He lives with a muskrat house-keeper named Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy and frequently gets into adventures with his other animal friends. The character also spawned picture books, comic books, toys, board games and many other collectibles. Unfortunately, most of the books have been out of print for many years. Starry Night Publishing has opted to begin reprinting some of the Uncle Wiggily stories, to share them with future generations. This is the first book in the series, complete with all thirty-one original stories.

Visit us online at www.1stWorldLibrary.ORG - - Uncle Wiggily Longears, the nice old gentleman rabbit, hopped out of bed one morning and started to go to the window, to see if the sun was shining. But, no sooner had he stepped on the floor, than he cried out: "Oh! Ouch! Oh, dear me and a potato pancake! Oh, I believe I stepped on a tack! Sammie Littletail must have left it there! How careless of him!" You see this was the same Uncle Wiggily, of whom I have told you in the Bedtime Books - the very same Uncle Wiggily. He was an Uncle to Sammie and Susie Littletail, the rabbit children, and also to Billie and Johnnie Bushytail, the squirrel boys, and to Alice and Lulu and Jimmie Wibblewobble, the duck children, and I have written for you, books about all those characters. Now I thought I would write something just about Uncle Wiggily himself, though of course I'll tell you what all his nephews and nieces did, too.

    Hardcover
My father used to read us Uncle Wiggly. We loved all of the stories. These are great bedtime stories for the little ones. They are written in a fun odd way, I'm not quite sure how to describe it, perhaps "old english", but the kids understand it enough to follow along. The world that the funky old rabbit lives in is wonderfully described. You'll picture it perfectly after the first few stories. (Amazon customer)

You don't get exercise enough." "Exercise enough!" cried Uncle Wiggily. "Why, my goodness me sakes alive and a bunch of lilacs! Don't I play checkers almost every night with Grandfather Goosey Gander?" Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, July 24, 2015)
About the Book The action and adventure genre in fiction depicts events or a series of events that happen outside the ordinary course of the protagonist's daily life, generally accompanied by dangerous episodes and physical action. Adventure stories are quick moving, with the pace of the plot being a critical component of mood setting. Action and adventure have been common book themes since the earliest days of fiction writing. In fact, the plots of Medieval romances were comprised of a series of adventures. Action / adventure fiction often overlaps with other genres, such as: war novels, crime novels, sea stories, Robinsonades, and spy stories. Also in this Book Our titles on adventurers and explorers present the lives and exploits of people who explored or travelled the world in a pioneering way. These include naturalists, sailors, mountain climbers, dog sledders, swimmers, pilots, and underwater explorers. Their activities had profound effects on the dissemination of religion, agricultural techniques, cultural values, disease, and the establishment of colonies throughout the world. About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages. • Uncle Wiggily's Adventures

    Howard Roger Garis

Paperback (Forgotten Books, July 28, 2012)
Uncle Wiggily Starts Off you, books about all those characters. Now I thought I would write something just about Uncle Wiggily himself, though of course Ill tell you what all his nephews and nieces did, too. Well, when Uncle Wiggily felt that sharp pain, he stood still for a moment, and wondered what could have happened. Yes, Im almost sure it was a tack, he said. I must pick it up so no one else will step on it. So Uncle Wiggily looked on the floor, but there was no tack there, only some crumbs from a sugar cookie that Susie Littletail had been eating the night before, when her uncle had told her a go-tosleep story. Oh, I know what it was; it must have been my rheumatism that gave me the pain! said the old gentleman rabbit as he looked for his red, white and blue crutch, striped like a barber pole. He found it under the bed, and then he managed to limp to the window. Surely enough, the sun was shining. Ill certainly have to do something about this rheumatism, said Uncle Wiggily as he carefully shaved himself by looking in the glass. I guess Ill see Dr. Possum. So after breakfast, when Sammie and Susie had gone to school, Dr. Possum was telephoned for, and he called to see Uncle Wiggily.(Typographical errors above are due to OCR software and don't occur in the book.)About the Publisher Forgotten Books is a publisher of historical writings, such as: Philosophy, Classics, Science, Religion, History, Folklore and Mythology.Forgotten Books' Classic Reprint Series utilizes the latest technology to regenerate facsimiles of historically important writings.
