  • Mark Seaworth: A Tale of the Indian Ocean

    William H.G. Kingston

Hardcover (Blackie & Son Ltd, )
Here is the 401 pg privately owned hardcover by William H.G. Kingston from A.L. Burt Publishers and as having no copyright date, though suspect circa late 1800s/early 1900s. There is a detailed engraving as a frontispiece and a nice dedication by the author to his brother George Kingston at the beginning of the book. This circa early 1800s seafaring novel features our English mate dueling with the Malay Archipelago pirates on the Indian Ocean. The book has no dust cover, yet the brown embossed and decorated boards featuring a framed cameo bust of Seaworth bust to the front board amidst black and red filigree accents. The spine has the similar decoration and silver block title lettering. The boards have some minor corner/edge rub/bump and some spotty stain, yet overall the boards are straight and very presentable. Inside, the pages have tanned and page 303 has some minor bottom edge wear, yet overall the remainder of the pages are clean, tear free and the binding is sound with only a minor bit of spining at top edge of the back board.

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, July 2, 2015)
Picture a wide expanse of ocean, smooth as a polished mirror, and shining like molten silver; a sky of intense blue, without a cloud or speck, forming a vast arch resting on the water; no land or rock in sight; the boundless sea on every side; the sun travelling slowly and majestically along the arch, and casting his burning rays upon the glittering plain below.
