  • The holy war, made by King Shaddai upon Diabolus, for the regaining of the metropolis of the world: or, the losing and taking again of the town of Mansoul

    John Bunyan

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, Nov. 4, 2015)
About the Book Christian drama was traditionally focused on the liturgical Mystery Play, which was performed in European churches in the Medieval period, and the Morality Play, which developed in the 15th and 16th centuries, was an allegory, in which the protagonists met personifications of various moral attributes, with a view to encouraging audiences to live the virtuous life. In the 17th century the Church viewed theatre was being wicked, and sought to suppress it. During the 20th century churches, particularly evangelical churches, rediscovered drama as a valid art form. However, in Britain in the early 20th century it was illegal for an actor to portray a divine personage on the stage. Also in this Book Religious music is performed or composed for religious use or through religious influence. Some scholars maintain that the earliest Christian music came from Jewish worship music, with additional Syriac influence. An alternative opinion holds that early Christian music is derived from the early ascetic monastic orders. And in this Book Mental health is the state of psychological well-being of an individual, which implies an absence of mental illness. A mentally healthy person is one that is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioural adjustment. Mental health can also be viewed in terms of an individual's ability to enjoy life, and create a balance between life's different activities. It also implies subjective well-being, and a perception of self-efficacy, autonomy, and competence.About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. Paperback (RareBooksClub.com, Sept. 13, 2013)
Excerpt: ...the son of Mr. Flatter, and of Mrs. Sooth-Up, his mother: and I have in former times seen him angry with those that have called him anything else but False-Peace, for he would say that all such did mock and nickname him; but this was in the time when Mr. False-Peace was a great man, and when the Diabolonians were the brave men in Mansoul. Court. Gentlemen, you have heard what these two men have sworn against the prisoner at the bar. And now, Mr. False-Peace, to you: you have denied your name to be False-Peace, yet you see that these honest men have sworn that that is your name. As to your plea, in that you are quite besides the matter of your indictment, you are not by it charged for evil-doing because you are a man of peace, or a peace-maker among your neighbours; but for that you did wickedly and satanically bring, keep, and hold the town of Mansoul, both under its apostasy from, and in its rebellion against its King, in a false, lying, and damnable peace, contrary to the law of Shaddai, and to the hazard of the destruction of the then miserable town of Mansoul. All that you have pleaded for yourself is, that you have denied your name, etc.; but here, you see, we have witnesses to prove that you are the man. For the peace that you so much boast of making among your neighbours, know that peace that is not a companion of truth and holiness, but that which is without this foundation, is grounded upon a lie, and is both deceitful and damnable, as also the great Shaddai hath said. Thy plea, therefore, has not delivered thee from what by the indictment thou art charged with, but rather it doth fasten all upon thee. But thou shalt have very fair play. Let us call the witnesses that are to testify as to matter of fact, and see what they have to say for our Lord the King against the prisoner at the bar. Clerk. Mr. Know-All, what say you for our Lord the King against the prisoner at the bar? Know. My lord, this man hath of a long time made it, to my...

    John Bunyan

Paperback (Ulan Press, Oct. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
