Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Perhaps the only argument that need be cited here is that this procedure creates - and that, too, gratuitously - an educational gap, and that the modern science of education is fundamentally hostile to gaps. Everywhere today interest and continuity in educational procedure are insisted upon. The hiatus here is no less glaring than that between the grades and the first high-school year.
