The Wind in the Willows (First published 1908) British author Kenneth Grahame’s "The Wind in the Willows" focuses on four animals, mixing mysticism with adventure, morality and camaraderie. It is a much celebrated children’s book, ranking highly in the BBC’s “The Big Read” Survey. The story revolves around Spring and the good-natured Mole who loses patience with Spring cleaning and ends up at the river for the first time. He meets Rat and they take a ride in his rowing boat. The two become fast friends and Rat teaches Mole the ways of the river. Out boating during the Summer months, they pay a visit to Toad, a wealthy, kind-hearted friend obsessed with his horse-drawn caravan. The three embark on an adventurous trip before deciding to meet elusive Badger, who lives deep in the Wild Wood.
