As a Christian, she had so much wanted her life this year to touch others for good, to make a lasting impact. Julee writhed as dark things chased her. These two sentences bookend the story of high school senior Julee Willow-almost. Following a cataclysmic decision made out of terror and desperation, Julee's ordered life is shattered. However, this is not a hopeless story for Julee's life is not "irrevocably" shattered. Yes, she and her loved ones experience heartbreak, despair, and tragedy, but with Christ's gentle guidance, she finds her way back from the dark and finds redemption and forgiveness, even hope, joy and a life abundant. Readers will have varying levels of difficulty reading this-Julee's anguish is intimate and tangible-but there's no one alive that should not read this very important and incredibly moving book. The greatest tragedy is that there is such a desperate need for this story to be told. The tears that scald, however, are also the tears that heal, and the message of God's ever-presence and eager forgiveness resonates long after reading the last page.
