  • Sharks!: A Children's Guide

    James Willoughby, Explore Series

Paperback (Independently published, Dec. 18, 2018)
This children's guidebook about Sharks is designed to teach younger kids about this beautiful, but misunderstood, deep-sea traveler. For many years I have been writing best-selling books about many different animals for the Explore Series “Wild Animals” editions. I realized not so long ago that some of the photos of these wild animals (especially when they are having dinner) may be considered too visually strong for very young eyes. So, I decided to create a series of books designed especially for the younger reader. This “Sharks! A Children's Guide” book is the third in the series. My hope is that you will read it alongside your child to help them with some words they may not be familiar with yet. And, of course, that they will love the beautiful images I’ve included. There are also a few drawings and charts to show the different Shark sizes, different shapes of Shark tails, different types of teeth that various Sharks have, an image showing the different parts of a Shark's body as well as a chose-up photo of a Shark's skin - it probably does not look like what you would think it would. The Dictionary at the end of the book will explain what certain words are that children may not know quite yet. I’ve also added some Bonus pictures just before the Dictionary, for fun! Here are some of the Sharks in the book:Bull SharkBigeyes Sixgill SharkTiger SharkHammerhead SharkHorn SharkLesser Spotted Dogfish SharkBlue SharkNosy Cow SharkShortfin Mako Shark...and many more!Pick up your own copy today!

  • Wolves!: A Children's Guide

    James Willoughby, Explore Series

Paperback (Independently published, Dec. 24, 2018)
We have all heard the scary stories about Wolves. Wolves are, indeed, potentially very frightening creatures, especially if you are Little Red Riding Hood or you’re afraid of being bitten by one and turning into a werewolf! But, if you’d like to know the real story about these fascinating, wild animals, read on!Over the years I’ve written many books about my favorite thing – nature’s wild animals. Many of them have images that may not be suitable for younger children. So, I’ve decided to create a series about them that would both teach kids about these fascinating creatures and also entertain them. "Wolves! A Children's Guide" is the second in the series. (Tigers: A Children's Guide was the first!)"Wolves! A Children's Guide" is designed to teach younger kids about this beautiful wild animal without including any pictures that may be considered too visually strong for children to see. It is full of beautiful, color photos of many different kinds of Wolves. It also includes plenty of interesting and fun facts about this mysterious and extraordinary beast that you may not know before. Did you know Wolves can swim?"Wolves! A Children's Guide" will answer questions like:What exactly is a “pack” of Wolves? Why does a Wolf howl? How many babies do Wolf mothers have?Where do Wolves live? Are Wolves really dangerous to people?"Wolves! A Children's Guide" is a perfect teaching tool for children who would like to know about one of the wildest animals in the "Canidae" family (which also includes foxes, jackals, coyotes and dogs). Each chapter is full of great info, like: A Wolf's anatomy (their senses and their behavior.)Threats - What could possibly threaten a Wolf? Wolves in popular culture - Little Red Riding Hood. Three Little Pigs. The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Fables & Superstitions about Wolves - What are Wolf "familiars"? Do Werewolves really exist?A few of the Wolves included in the book:Gray WolfRed WolfEthiopian/Abyssinian WolfEastern WolfBonuses also included are some fun activities for children, like the words and directions for singing the interactive "Wolf Song" and a maze to guide Papa Wolf home to the den.I hope your children will enjoy a lifetime where they are as captivated by these wild creatures as I have been my whole life. So, pick up a copy today.
