"I Can Be An Artist" follows a little girl named Avril as she visits the Legion of Honor museum in San Francisco with her parents and baby sister, Anika. There she meets some of the great works of art by Rodin, Picasso, Pre-Raphaelite painters, and more. She thinks that some are scary, some are funny, and some are so beautiful that she looks at them for a long time. At home, she is inspired to paint and to sculpt. She thinks the brighter the colors, the better! She doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up, but Mommy and Daddy assure her that she can always make the world beautiful. With gentle humor and beautiful illustration, "I Can Be An Artist" helps young children prepare to visit a museum, explores how art makes us feel, and celebrates the simple joy and beauty of early childhood art. Author proceeds are donated to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco to support their school programs.
