Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, Feb. 12, 2016)
Leopold is delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive Classic Library collection. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. The aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature, and our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. The contents of the vast majority of titles in the Classic Library have been scanned from the original works. To ensure a high quality product, each title has been meticulously hand curated by our staff. This means that we have checked every single page in every title, making it highly unlikely that any material imperfections – such as poor picture quality, blurred or missing text - remain. When our staff observed such imperfections in the original work, these have either been repaired, or the title has been excluded from the Leopold Classic Library catalogue. As part of our on-going commitment to delivering value to the reader, within the book we have also provided you with a link to a website, where you may download a digital version of this work for free. Excerpt from Dwellers in the MistHer father was the minister of the gray church that stood on the hill overlooking the sea. Its walls were green with lichen, and its flooring was the clamp clay in which the nar row, moth-eaten pews were fixed. Though it was erected but fifty years ago it was already far advanced in decay, for it was built in haste to provide a place of worship for the people who had then left the parish church in a body, leaving it empty and desolate The old parish church stood near, and in it a kindly old man, known in the parish as the Ministeir Moder ate, ministered to a co'ngregation so small that one of the qualities of the church trium phant might be claimed by it - for it was almost invisible. When the people wanted seed in the spring, or meal in the winter, they always went to the old minister in their need, and they never went in vain. • Dwellers in the Mirage: Sound in the night

    A. Merritt

    (J. Sahoo, May 2, 2020)
I raised my head, listening,—not only with my ears but with every square inch of my skin, waiting for recurrence of the sound that had awakened me. There was silence, utter silence. No soughing in the boughs of the spruces clustered around the little camp. No stirring of furtive life in the underbrush. Through the spires of the spruces the stars shone wanly in the short sunset to sunrise twilight of the early Alaskan summer.A sudden wind bent the spruce tops, carrying again the sound—the clangour of a beaten anvil.
