    The Scottish author, Elizabeth Gordon, explains that this is a book of the little brothers and sisters of the Flower Children (earlier book by the author) who live in the woods and fields and are the little playmates of the fairies. It is one of the Volland Nature Children Series of books. The Volland Ideal is that "books for children should contain nothing to cause fright, suggest fear, glorify mischief, excuse malice or condone cruelty". The book contains simple poems with wonderful, colorful, fanciful illustrations.
