  • Little School of Horrors

    McKenna Cooke

    (Independently published, May 26, 2017)
**This a thriller/mystery/romance novel for teens and young adults 15+ due to violence and language.** Everyone I know – and people I don’t—think my best friends and I had something to do with our English teacher’s death. People we thought of as friends. Peers. Teachers. Our parents. And who knows? Maybe we did. Maybe we were the reason why the psycho pedophile Mike Adams was stabbed thirteen times in his kitchen. But did we do it? No. Still, it sucks being treated as though we did. Can you really blame us for starting fresh at a boarding school? It was our only chance to get away from everyone who blamed us, especially our parents. And yeah, I get that it looks like we are “running away” which might be construed as suspicious, but WE DIDN’T KILL ANYONE. Besides, being around hundreds of new faces means making new friends. And maybe stirring up a new romance. And gaining the trust of the people who actually care about us. We need every person on our side that we can get, because there is someone out there that knows who we are, knows where we came from, and knows what we did. And it seems to me like they want to end us.

Reed would die to work for Victoria McCoy - and she may get the chance to do just that Reed Monroe chose Salem University for one reason: the opportunity to study with Victoria McCoy, writer-in-residence and best-selling author of horror fiction. When she learns that a lingering illness is preventing McCoy from teaching any classes, Reed starts a fan club for other McCoy obsessives. Although it only attracts a few members, the club is her passion until she hears about the opportunity of a lifetime: Victoria McCoy is hiring a new assistant. It’s a job that any horror fan would kill for. After she’s hired, Reed learns that the position was open because the last assistant disappeared, and that every one of McCoy’s employees has vanished mysteriously. To survive freshman year, Reed must confront the possibility that her idol might be a murderer.
