  • Learn-to-Read Treasure Hunts: Fifty Skill-Building Games for Beginning Readers and Their Parents

    Scott Ritche, Steve Cohen

Paperback (Workman Publishing Company, Jan. 3, 1997)
Learn-to-Read Treasure Hunts provides 50 days (or 10 school weeks) of family fun while giving kids ages 5 to 7 the skills and confidence they need to become better readers. The concept is simple and designed to work no matter what method of teaching is being used in school. There's one treasure hunt per day, three or four clues per treasure hunt, with each perforated page a written clue that parents tear off, fold, and hide. The child has to read each clue to complete the hunt. For example, Clue #1 of Day #1 reads: "Look under a pan," with the word "pan" illustrated. On the back of the final clue each day is a bonus phonics game in which kids match words to pictures. Fifty reward stickers are included with the book. For ages 5-7. 63,000 copies in print.
