The Story So Far…..The Cold Season had passed and the Valley had started a new cycle of Seasons. Pippy Pippin, the Storekeeper, and his wife, Daisy, were busy at the Store. Their children, the twins Nat and Jim made the most of their last day before returning to school by visiting Lower Brook, the Village lower down the Valley, next to the Great Water, and running an errand for Mr and Mrs Fluff to the Drink Factory, owned by Sparkling Walter and his wife, Min. Legend has it that Sparkling Walter, who suffers from wind through drinking too much Fizzy Fruit, actually makes the fizz by blowing into each bottle himself. The twins then played with their friends in the Park before returning home for the evening and to look forward to the Daffodil Race. At Dance House, Lord and Lady Dance surveyed the daffodils in the Valley below. The main event of early Budding Season, the Daffodil Race was held to commemorate the Raft Race Tragedy. Lord Dance decided when the daffodils had reached their time and gave the signal for preparations to begin. The Daffodil Race was as exciting as ever with the popular winner being Tom Fluff. The post race celebrations held a surprise for Pippy Pippin as he was nominated to have a daffodil planted on Daffodil Rock. The Valley of Rabbit Brook would now look forward to The Blossom Tree Celebration but first the Rains had to be endured!
  • The Youngsters' Adventure and Thanksgiving

    Colin Wilce

(Lulu Press Incorporated, July 4, 2012)
After his mishap at the Carrot Festival, Sandy Wood spends the remainder of the Warm Season under the watchful eye of his parents. Soon the Harvest Season is in full swing, and the youngsters return to school. Eventually Sandy’s excellent behaviour at school forces his Mum and Dad to allow him to go up the Valley to play again. Sandy, Grace, Jim and Nat go to Dam Bottom to play but Sandy leads his friends astray to the nearby woods and bushes. They end up trapped in a cavern with Jim getting into more and more trouble having been separated from the others. At the end of every Harvest Season, Thanksgiving is held before the Cold Season sets in. This gives everyone the chance to celebrate before taking refuge from the cold weather, in their homes. However the snow and freezing conditions arrive early and Thanksgiving is hastily arranged. The Fluffs and the Dances struggle to reach the Store but when the Thanksgiving is finalised, Nan Moss suggests that an Ice Toboggan Race be held on the frozen Brook. This rarely held event takes place, followed by a traditional Thanksgiving middle meal. Then the Concert and Celebration take place but this time in the Drink Factory rather than in the Park, because of the cold weather. Another successful event is followed by farewells and the last return back to the cottages.
