    Lorraine Abrams

Hardcover (Ideas into Books WESTVIEW, Nov. 8, 2015)
Spicy continues to keep her pen pal Rainey entertained with stories and poems of her life with four feline housemates. In Love and Purrs, Spicy uses poetry to describe a fun visit she had with her human friend Lyla, who loves cats, and when they all hid, except Spicy, of course, Lyla and Mother went looking for them. Where were they hiding? Spicy also shares memories of her Auntie Kiki, a beautiful Siamese, and has set to rhyme the story of a zany afternoon when playtime went haywire for Kiki and her mama. Spicy has stories about games she plays, Tinker's career (Can you believe that?), and the time she wanted a pet of her own. Spicy hopes these events in her life will help you to appreciate the great moments in your own life and to build special memories with your family and friends. Rainey sends her love. Enjoy!

  • Gus, Scruffy, Clara and Friends

    Gidge Dreher

Paperback (Ideas into Books WESTVIEW, Sept. 9, 2007)
Gus, Scruffy, Clara and Friends is a collection of five fun stories about animal friends. Gus the goose and his friends, Gertrude, Gladys, Gwen, Gary, and Gordon are geese who live in a public park where children play. Scruffy the cat was born as an outdoors cat who found a home with people who love and take care of him. Clara the crabby cow is unhappy about her routine life of giving milk and eating grass until she finds a little girl who loves her. In today's world, Grandparents travel great distances to visit their children and grandchildren. After their arrival and a round of 'hugs' and 'kisses' it isn't long before the grandchildren plead, "Grandma or Grandpa, tell us a story." Most grandparents resort to telling stories that the children have already heard many times before. Author Gidge Dreher has come up with a new twist - developing stories while traveling. Geese standing on playground equipment, a misplaced and forgotten soccer ball in a field, a scruffy cat entertaining his caretaker, and a cow gyrating in a peculiar fashion coupled with a vivid childhood imagination and mysterious intrigue becomes beautiful children's story.
