    Katrina Kahler

language (How To Help Children, Aug. 1, 2012)
Karen Campbell and Katrina Kahler are award winning teachers and parenting experts who have finally filled a much needed gap in puberty education. You don’t want your young daughter or son reading a book on puberty that includes explicit sexual information. Children are entering puberty earlier, some as young as nine. They’re still playing with dolls and leggo and are little kids in their heads. Karen searched for books when her daughter and son entered puberty, but none of the books available were written for little children. This book tells your child all the information they need to know in simple to understand and appropriate language. The book is broken into four sections.Advice for Boys and Girls: This section talks about confidence; moods and feelings and hope to cope with them; the pressures of growing up; friends and bullies and pimples.A Young Girl's Guide to Growing Up: The second part of the book is devoted to girls and gives advice on topics such as: what is normal; breasts and bras; dealing with teasing; body hair; body odor; body shape and image; periods and boyfriends. What Happens to Boys During Puberty?: This section if for the boys and it focuses on the changes that boys will experience such as: voice changes; body hair; body shape and size; interest in girls; genitals; pimples; body odor and mood swings. The final section is Advice for Parents and we talk about how your child will change; body image and strategies to make sure they remain confident about their bodies; interest in the opposite sex and how to praise a teen. This book will help your daughter or son understand what they are going through without exposing them to unnecessary information about sex that is more suitable for older teenagers. This book was written after Karen had to rip out many pages from a puberty book she had purchased for her daughter. At the age of 9 to 13 children don't need to or want to know about all the different types of sex humans can have. We hope you love this book. It is part of a series of 7 smaller books and an overall book called 'The Parenting Tap'. The other books ink the series include:Confident Kids: How Parents Can Raise Positive, Confident, Resilient and Focused kidsCommunicating With Your Kids: Learning How To Talk and Listen To Each OtherHow To Improve Your Child’s Behavior Today: Secrets to Raising Well-Behaved ChildrenAchieving Success at School: Help With Reading, Spelling, Writing & MathSmart Baby: Give Your Baby or Toddler a Massive Head StartThe Parenting Trap: How To Avoid the Pitfalls and Raise a Child You’ll Be Proud of (This book includes all the above books)There is no doubt that you will benefit from the straight forward and simple to follow advice that Karen and Katrina give out. • Sight Words: Dolche Words for Kindergarten, Preschool and 1st and 2nd Grades and Themed Words: A great first Sight Words Book!

    Katrina Kahler, Bob Campbell

language (How To Help Children, Dec. 21, 2012)
Sight Words: This is the best sight words book on Amazon. It includes all the Dolche words and themed words as well. This is part of the Rabbit Readers Program that will teach your child to be a confident reader.Dolche words are the common words we use all the time. In fact, we use these words 80% of the time. Many of these words are very difficult or impossible to sound out. Children must be able to recognize them if they are to become fluent readers. This book contains the first 220 words that Professor Dolche identified as being essential for a child to know in order to become a reader. They are divided into five groups, Kindergarten, Preschool, 1st and 2nd Grade sight words. These are suggested levels but remember that every child is different. If your child is younger and wants to start learning to read...you can start them on the Kindergarten section. If they are older and haven't started to learn sight words, just start them on section 1. If they are experiencing success with the words, don't be afraid to advance them to the higher levels. The sooner they know these sight words the better. As a bonus I have added themed sight words. They are not Dolche words, but commonly used words grouped together, e.g. family, objects, colors, numbers, verbs, describing words, pronouns etc. Not only will these words help your child with their reading, but they will expand their vocabulary as well. Katrina Kahler is an award winning teacher with 30 years experience. During that time she has taught thousands of children how to read, spell and write. Check out her other books including the Rabbit Readers Series, Dex The Dog Series and other Early Reader Books. Just type Katrina Kahler in the Amazon Kindle search box.
