Detective fans of all races and creeds, of all tastes and fancies will delight in the exploits of this wise and whimsical padre. This collection of 12 mysteries solved by Father Brown includes: "The Blue Cross", "The Secret Garden", "The Queer Feet", "The Flying Stars", "The Invisible Man", "The Honour of Israel Gow", "The Wrong Shape", "The Sins of Prince Saradine", "The Hammer of God", "The Eye of Apollo", "The Sign of the Broken Sword", and "The Three Tools of Death".

Audio CD (St. Clare Audio, Jan. 1, 2016)
12 Audio CD’s – 10 Hours and 18 Minutes. The Innocence of Father Brown (1911) is the first of five collections of mystery stories by G. K. Chesterton starring an unimposing but surprisingly capable Roman Catholic priest. Father Brown’s ability to uncover the truth behind the mystery continually surpasses that of the “experts” around him, who are fooled into underestimation by the priest’s unimpressive outward appearance and, often, by their own prejudices about Christianity. Combining captivating stories and insightful commentary, The Innocence of Father Brown is a delightful read. Chapters include: The Blue Cross, The Invisible Man, The Hammer of God, The Sign of the Broken Sword, and more. Our CDs are packaged in premium DVD cases with CD labeling printed right on the CD in full color. We do not use paper stick-on labels, these tend to peel off over time and can really jam up car CD players and computers. We chose to use DVD cases for our CD sets, as we have found they hold up better in shipping and in regular usage than the typical CD jewel case. Please note: All recordings we offer on CD are produced with recordings from Librivox, public domain works recorded by volunteers. We at St. Clare Audio would like to thank the volunteers for their gift of offering their work to the public domain. St. Clare Audio's niche is providing them in ready-to-purchase CD sets, for those who cannot download, or have not the desire or time to do so, as well as the benefit of a nice case and professionally produced CDs. The Innocence of Father Brown is a collection of twelve short stories by G. K. Chesterton featuring the character of Father Brown, a short, stocky Roman Catholic priest who spends much of his time sleuthing about and solving crimes and mysteries using his intuition and understanding of human nature and especially evil. The character of Father Brown was loosely based on a parish priest in Bradford, Father John O’Connor, and is portrayed in shapeless clothes with a large umbrella and a bicycle. In a way, he is a counterpoint to the eccentric and super rational Sherlock Holmes character of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The stories in the Innocence of Father Brown were originally published by The Story-Teller in England and the Saturday Evening Post in America before release in book form in 1911. Chesterton produced four additional Father Brown collections: The Wisdom of Father Brown (1914), The Incredulity of Father Brown (1926), The Secret of Father Brown (1927) and The Scandal of Father Brown (1935). The stories have often been adapted for film, radio and television, most notably in Father Brown, Detective (1934) starring Walter Connolly, Father Brown (1954) starring Alec Guinness, and most recently the popular Father Brown series of ten episodes on BBC starring Mark Williams.

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, July 24, 2017)
Chesterton portrays Father Brown as a short, stumpy Roman Catholic priest, with shapeless clothes and a large umbrella, and an uncanny insight into human evil. "How in Tartarus," cried Flambeau, "did you ever hear of the spiked bracelet?" -- "Oh, one's little flock, you know!" said Father Brown, arching his eyebrows rather blankly. "When I was a curate in Hartlepool, there were three of them with spiked bracelets." * Not long after he published _Orthodoxy, _ G. K. Chesterton moved from London to Beaconsfield, and met Father O'Connor. O'Connor had a shrewd insight to the darker side of man's nature and a mild appearance to go with it -- and together those came together to become Chesterton's unassuming Father Brown. Chesterton loved the character, and the magazines he wrote for loved the stories. _The Innocence of Father Brown_ was the first collection of them, and it's a great lot of fun.

Paperback (Independently published, Sept. 2, 2017)
The Blue Cross Between the silver ribbon of morning and the green glittering ribbon of sea, the boat touched Harwich and let loose a swarm of folk like flies, among whom the man we must follow was by no means conspicuous--nor wished to be. There was nothing notable about him, except a slight contrast between the holiday gaiety of his clothes and the official gravity of his face. His clothes included a slight, pale grey jacket, a white waistcoat, and a silver straw hat with a grey-blue ribbon. His lean face was dark by contrast, and ended in a curt black beard that looked Spanish and suggested an Elizabethan ruff. He was smoking a cigarette with the seriousness of an idler. There was nothing about him to indicate the fact that the grey jacket covered a loaded revolver, that the white waistcoat covered a police card, or that the straw hat covered one of the most powerful intellects in Europe. For this was Valentin himself, the head of the Paris police and the most famous investigator of the world; and he was coming from Brussels to London to make the greatest arrest of the century.
