A children's story, written and illustrated by Clare Avery.It tells how a little girl, Katrina, and her pet duck, Spangles, are wrapped up and posted to the Land of Enchantment by Grandma.They are helped to get there by Grandma's friend, a cloud called Serendipity, and by Sea Sprites when Serendipity is scared by thunder and drops them in the sea by mistake.Once in the Land of Enchantment they play with a Merrygoball, and meet the Enchantlings when a wall of faces appears before them.The Enchantlings show some of the magical chairs in their land where funny things happen when you sit on them. These include a Sneezing chair, hissing and barking Cat and Dog chairs, a Hiccupping chair, a Tickling chair, a Musical chair and a Clapping chair.A naughty enchantling called Alackaday guides them, and then wears them out running in a magical maze, before a kindly Forty Winks chair lets them curl up and go to sleep.Serendipity finds them and takes them safely home to Grandma.
