Arthur Winfield is the pen name for Edward Stratemeyer a prolific writer of children's fiction. Through his syndicate he is responsible for the series The Hardy Boys, Tom Swift and Nancy Drew; however he himself wrote most of the Rover series and the second series - starting with volume 21 - that feature the Rover's sons. In this volume, the boys have many adventures and pull pranks, camp, flirt with their girlfriends and raise general havoc. After one earns military honors at the school they settle a bit and discover that there are mysterious doing at Colby Hall. On summer break from school they visit the Montana ranch of a fellow student, run into horse thieves and more mysteries, some that seem to reflect what happened at Colby. The conclusion wraps up some questions but sets the stage for the next adventure. The book is written whit colloquialisms and can be both humorous and offensive as some characters are treated with less than political correctness.
