(2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Paperback (Forgotten Books, Dec. 3, 2017)
Excerpt from The Travels of Birds: Our Birds and Their Journeys to Strange LandsIt is true that man makes longer journeys than birds do. But it is also true that he could not make them without help from other men. He might walk where there was land, but he would need days to go as far as a bird could go in an hour. And when he comes to the sea he requires a sailing vessel or steamer with charts and maps and compass to aid him in finding the way; while in the hold there must be food for the use of the crew and passengers during the voyage. But the bird traveler asks help from no one. He has no use for locomotives, automobiles or steamships. He carries no chart and no com pass, and he can go with ease to parts of the world which it took man many years to reach, and to some parts Of the world which still are unknown to man.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. About the Book Travel is the movement of people between two geographical locations. Travel can be done by foot, bicycle, automobile, train, boat, bus, airplane, or other means, with or without luggage, and can be one way or round trip. Over the span of history, travel has becomer safer, cheaper and more common among the world's population. In the Middle Ages pilgrimages were a major reason for civilian travel in both the Christian and Muslim worlds. It became fashionable during the late 16th century for young European aristocrats and wealthy upper class men to undertake a Grand Tour of major European cities as part of their education. It included historic cities such as London, Paris, Venice, Florence and Rome. During the 19th century innovations led to rail networks and steamship routes that stimulated tourism. Also in this Book These titles refer to special interest in travel. It is for trips and travel that are out of the ordinary and customised to the person who wrote the book, or about planning customised travel. A special interest trip needs to be rewarding, enriching, adventurous and a learning experience. These experiences may be natural or cultural. About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages. You can search "Leopold Classic Library" in categories of your interest to find other books in our extensive collection. Happy reading!

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
