this book contains the ORIGINAL version of the story by Leslie McFarlane. (A major revision was made to the story in 1967.) The art in the original release was by GRETTA. But his frontispiece was removed in the 1947s. This book has NO frontispiece--so it must date from the 1947 to 1950 when Bill Gillies did new art work for this story. HOWEVER the Dust jacket has the GILLES art work. This suggest that the book is older than the cover. General description. This book measures approx 5 1/8" by 7 5/8". It has brown paper covering the boards; titles and a silhouette-illustration appear on the cover and titles appear on the spine. It has orange illustrated end pages, signed GRETTA; there is NO illustration facing the title page. The dust jacket is signed Bill Gilles. The book jacket is in an acid free protective cover so its condition has been stabilized
