For a hundred years a curse had dogged the happiness and well-being of the residents of a southwestern town called Cedar City. The town deserved the curse. In the 1960's, three teenagers: Mark Mccray, Veronica 'Ronnie' Brent, and Ruben Carbajal are caught in the crossfire of disparate wicked influences. The three struggle to to keep from succumbing to the darkness of these influences as they are confronted by increasingly brutal no-win situations.McCray, against inherited instincts born into him, and at the urging of his onetime friend, Ronnie Brent, intervenes on behalf of an Indian girl from the Paiute Reservation against classroom bullies. That act reunites McCray with his estranged friends, Ronnie Brent and Ruben Carbajal. The blowback from the actions of McCray, Carbajal, and Brent degenerates into increasing violence and bloodshed that reverberates throughout the desert-mountain community of Cedar City, and comes to involve state and federal authorities, local law enforcement, the Paiute Nation, as well as the families of the three adolescents.Suspected in the killings of four of their classmates, McCray and Carbajal, with the help of Ronnie and others, attempt to avoid arrest by authorities, and assasination from those seeking vengence for their dead. The efforts of the three in this 11 day saga will test the fidelity of each of the student's belief systems, as well as the fidelity of their friendship.
