Audible Audiobook (Robert J Mayer, Jan. 25, 2017)
June 6th is the Day of Days. Same date; six different years, the Time Patrol must save our timeline from the shadow by preserving our past to protect our timeline from annihilation. History is made by ordinary people doing extraordinary things. The fact that often history doesn't record the heroics of these people doesn't alter that. The missions on June 6th range from: AD 1944: Parachuting in behind the beaches of Normandy and linking up with the Resistance to insure the last good war ends the way history records. 478 BC: At the Pythian Games in Greece in AD 478 where art and war merge. AD 452: A monster's lair in AD 452 where a man becomes the legend of Beowulf. AD 1843: At West Point, where a middling cadet, small in stature, named Ulysses S. Grant is trying to survive and graduate, with his curious brain that mixes war and art. AD 1998: In a secret nuclear weapons depot in Pakistan, where the saber-rattling of nuclear tests is getting ready to escalate into Armageddon; a war to end all wars. And, strangest of all, a mission thousands of years into pre-history, to the day Art is born. It is up to the Time Patrol to send an agent back to six different years on June 6th and make sure our timelines stay intact!

The 6th of June is the Day of Days Same date; six different years, the Time Patrol must save our timeline from the SHADOW by preserving our past to protect our timeline from annihilation. History is made by ordinary people doing extraordinary things. The fact that often time’s history doesn’t record the heroics of these people doesn’t alter that. The missions on 6 June range from: 1944 A.D.: Parachuting in behind the beaches of Normandy and linking up with the Resistance to insure the last ‘good war’ ends the way history records. 478 B.C.: At the Pythian Games in Greece in 478A.D., where art and war merge. 452 A.D.: A monster’s lair in 452 A.D. where a man becomes the legend of Beowulf. 1843 A.D: At West Point, where a middling cadet, small in stature, named Ulysses S. Grant is trying to survive and graduate, with his curious brain that mixes war and art. 1998 A.D.: In a secret nuclear weapons depot in Pakistan, where the saber-rattling of nuclear tests is getting ready to escalate into Armageddon; a war to end all wars. And, strangest of all, a mission thousands of years into pre-history, to the day Art is born. While history doesn’t record the heroics by the ordinary, there are those who do notice. And there are those who want to stop those ordinary people and change our history in order to create a time tsunami and wipe our present out of existence. It is up to the Time Patrol to send an agent back to six different years on the 6th of June and make sure that doesn’t happen!

Paperback (Gardners Books, May 31, 2004)
Jim Dodd is an 18-year-old Second Lieutenant in an infantry battalion, a former Territorial unit. He is younger than many of the men in his platoon, but earns their respect by handling the men well on exercise and looking after their welfare. At the beginning of 1944, his battalion is mobilised and a veteran of the desert war and former POW is sent in as commander. He drives the company mercilessly, flaying them with criticism. After rehearsing its role in the landings on the Normandy coast, Jim's battalion joins the huge armada crossing the Channel, fighters and bombers accompanying them overhead to pound the coastal defences as the landing crafts go in. By the end of D Day, the British and Canadians have established themselves firmly on Juno, Gold and Sword beaches, and the Americans on Utah beach (having sustained heavy losses on Omaha beach - the arena of action in Saving Private Ryan). Jim's battalion goes on to join the fighting in the French hinterland, where Jim realises that his commander's ruthless methods result in a lower loss of life than other companies. Jim goes on to take part in two major operations (Totalise and Tractable) to smash through the German lines. His task is to secure a village and its crossroads in the centre of the enemy escape route. What follows is based on the real-life struggle for Mont Ormel. Jim's company is subjected to constant attacks from the Waffen SS and, as the only unwounded officer left, Jim finds himself in charge of the situation...
