Sandy Hall, Will Damron, Amy Rubinate, Macmillan Audio

Audiobook (Macmillan Audio, Aug. 26, 2014)
The distinctive new crowdsourced publishing imprint Swoon Reads proudly presents its first published novel - an irresistibly sweet romance between two college students told from 14 different viewpoints. The creative writing teacher, the delivery guy, the local Starbucks baristas, his best friend, her roommate, and the squirrel in the park all have one thing in common - they believe that Gabe and Lea should get together. Lea and Gabe are in the same creative writing class. They get the same pop culture references, order the same Chinese food, and hang out in the same places. Unfortunately, Lea is reserved, Gabe has issues, and despite their initial mutual crush, it looks like they are never going to work things out. But somehow even when nothing is going on, something is happening between them, and everyone can see it. You'll be rooting for Gabe and Lea, too, in Sandy Hall's quirky, completely original novel A Little Something Different, chosen by readers, writers, and publishers to be the debut titles for the new Swoon Reads imprint!

  • A Different Little Doggy

    Heather Whittaker, Scott Alberts

    Hardcover (Pen-Tech Professional LLC, July 1, 2013)
Being different in life does not have to be an obstacle, and in A Different Little Doggy, this tiny little dog named Taz sees benefits to being small and is comfortable with who she is.A Different Little Doggy is a heart warming story teaching children ages 4 to 8 important lessons about acceptance and friendship through colorful, lively illustrations and a rhyming story line. An award winning book, it's a true, inspirational story of a disabled dog. As the story starts, Taz encounters a problem with her knees and has to go to the doggy doctor because she is in a lot of pain. The illustrations creatively depict Taz on crutches with pins being used to fix her knees. All fixed up now, the story continues with Taz at a birthday party and playing ball at the park pointing out other ways she is different from her friends; differences that do not matter to any of them. Without warning, as it did in real life, Taz then goes blind, and her life goes on, just in a bit different way. In the final pages of the story, Taz teaches us to be accepting of others who may be different. Taz was different than other dogs in many ways, but the same in many others. Her story teaches children (and adults) it is OK to be themselves.

    Pearl Young

Out in the wilderness all around the world, animals look, sound, and act differently. For instance, theres one animal that hides in a shell. Theres another that has a very long nose and another still that gets very, very excited about receiving mail. Animals even live in different places: in trees, in the sea, and maybe in your own backyard.Im a Little Different is a book of rhyming verse. Each page describes another animal, but its up to you to figure out which one! Are you up to the challenge? Can you tell me which critter gets stinky when scared or which wild beast has a nose like a garden hose?Author Pearl Young uses the playfulness of poetry to teach children about rhyme and repetition but also about how its okay to be different. Just like animals in nature, people come in different colors, shapes, and sizes, too. Its good to be different, because being different makes you special, just ask a zebra!
