  • Nelson Mandela: From Prisoner to President, Biography of Nelson Mandela

    Tim D. Washington

Paperback (Independently published, March 19, 2019)
Biography of Nelson Mandela - From Prisoner to PresidentWhen Nelson Mandela was released from prison after 27 years on 11 February 1990, the eyes of the world were on South Africa. He was the most iconic figure in the fight against apartheid, the political regime established in 1948 which institutionalized racial segregation in all aspects of life in South Africa. Images of his release were broadcast across the world and inspired hope of a better future for the country. When he left prison, his fist raised in a victory salute and welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd. His last speech before he was sentenced was at the forefront of everyone’s minds. The extraordinary story of Nelson Mandela – who also went by the name Madiba, in homage to his ancestors’ clan – was far from over. After his release, he played an important role in the negotiations between his party, the ANC, and the South African regime, which resulted in the dismantling of apartheid and the organization of the country’s first democratic elections. When he was elected president of the new “Rainbow Nation” in 1994, he faced the difficult task of leading South Africa down the long and bumpy road to reconciliation, assuaging the fears of the country’s white citizens and fulfilling the hopes of its black citizens. The book contains the following chapters:Chapter 1 - Early Life and EducationChapter 2 - Johannesburg RunawayChapter 3 - Rainbow NationChapter 4 - Robben IslandChapter 5 - The Treason TrialChapter 6 - The Sharpeville MassacreChapter 7 - Death of Apartheid, Presidency, and LegacyChapter 8 - Rules for SuccessChapter 9 - A Chequered Political RecordChapter 10 - Death
  • The Hundred Dollar Bill Man: A Day with Benjamin Franklin

    Tim D. Washington

Paperback (Independently published, April 4, 2019)
Have you ever had a dream that seemed so real, even though it couldn’t possibly be true? Here is your chance to dive in to a place where dreams become reality and where logic doesn’t exist. As a young boy I had a wish to meet a great man I looked up on to, a man that inspired me to become a better person and spend my life in the best way I can. Yet I also had a wish to show him my life, where I am, what I do and how are things here. Even though he probably knows it all, it’s fun connecting to the people you admire, even when it’s just fun, games and endless curiosity for life. What I truly want to share with all of you, was my realization that life is less about logic and more about play. Benjamin spoke with an eternal feeling of peace, like he was always here, like I just happened to see him, even though he knows everything there is to know about me. But we don’t look for logic, we are too busy playing and enjoying life. And in the same time, we are in the process of becoming a better version of ourselves. If you remember to breathe, and sometimes hug a tree, every forest will become magical. You just have to dream, dream and dream. My dream is a symbol that all dreams eventually become true, so be very careful what you wish for, for it might come true! There are many things you can learn from this short story, and I don’t want to give them all away, I just want you to look closely for the hidden doors that are scattered around between lines of text. Hidden doors that lead to the wisdom you seek.
