  • Steam!: Taming the River Monster

    Wim Coleman, Sue Todd

language (Red Chair Press, April 15, 2019)
In 1807 at the age of 13, Brenton Dixon lived on the Hudson River in New York state. One day he and his friends saw something strange out on the Hudson River, approaching from downstream. Many were sure that it was a fire-breathing monster and the sight created havoc on shore and on the water. It was Robert Fulton’s pioneering steamboat the Clermont, making its maiden voyage from New York City to Albany.

    William Coleman

Paperback (Forgotten Books, April 19, 2018)
Excerpt from A Collection of the Facts and Documents, Relative to the Death of Major-General Alexander Hamilton: With Comments; Together With the Various Orations, Sermons, and Eulogies, That Have Been Published or Written on His Life and CharacterI have maturely reflected on the subject of your letter of the 18th inst. And the more I have reflected the more I have become convinced, that I could not, without mani fest impropriety, make the avowal or disavowal which you seem to think necessary. The clause pointed out by Mr. Van Ness is in these terms I could detail to you a still more despicable Opinion which General Hamilton has ex pressed of Mr. Burr. To endeavour to discover the meaning of this declaration, I was obliged to seek in the antecedent part of this letter for the opinion to which it referred, as having been already disclosed. I found it in these words: General Hamilton and Judge Kent have declared in substance, that they looked upon Mr. Burr to be a dangerous man, and one who ought not to be trusted with the reins of government.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. William Coleman

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.
