    William Hauff was born in Germany in 1802 and died in 1827, barely 25 years old, but the author of several well received works, including the Fairy Tales (early fairy tales with content that is not common), novels and poems - very much in the Brothers Grimm tradition. In some he uses the device of having a continuing story, or a story from each member of a group, in one case, the Sheik's slaves. A portion is "Arabian Nights" in style - there are evil witches and enchanted dwarves who change back into handsome young men.
