  • Was It Worth It: Mill Farm Salt Spring Island

    Bruce Williams, Anjay A

    language (Bruce R Williams, Jan. 24, 2016)
Bruce Williams No wonder I had a bad attitude after I got the strap first day of school, maybe that had something to do with me running away with the circus at 13 yrs old which led me into, quitting school the day I was 15, to get the truant officers off my case. My grand Mother said to me my boy the best education is to travel and listen to the old ones. The traveling part was great especially to play poker in small towns under the local Hardware stores, it was all the town fathers who showed up to play. I listened to my Grand Mother and have had many oral teachings shared with me, running sweat lodges, dancing in Sun Dances being an Elder for C.S.C, receiving the Peoples Pipe and being an Elder with a Medicine Wheel. When my Communal Partners wanted to sub divide our land on Salt Spring Island my son cemented me to our cabin in the bush, it became an International story. They sure were concerned about my feet not having any circulation after being encased in cement for days. When they said they were going to bring a nut Doctor up the hill I really started thinking about my situation.
  • Sparkle Star Toy Factory

    William Brest

    language (, March 16, 2012)
Paul Sparkle was a genius. He was a dreamer. But Professor Sparkle died before the beginning of the new millennium. Miraculous secrets were left behind, hidden in the Sparkle Star Toy Factory. It has remained forsaken, forgotten, and undiscovered. The world has been denied this wonder until...Jeremy Chaser loved his pet, Candy. He was a white Mongolian Dwarf hamster with big blue eyes. Candy was smart, and Candy was fast. The little rodent loved to run. He loved the golden wheel in his cage. Candy would run all day long, from sun up until sundown. Running gave him a sense of freedom and power. But one day Candy got out of his cage. He ran across a dinner table nearly giving Mrs. Claudia Kingsley a heart attack. And Mrs. Kingsley… well let’s just say Cathy and Dean Chaser considered themselves fortunate to escape a lawsuit with their home and their business intact. However, Candy Chaser would have to go. So reluctantly, Dean took his son down to the old abandon factory where Jeremy released his beloved pet. Inside the old building Candy discovered a dusty fantasy land of billows, slides, balloon bags, and windmills. The furry creature could feel the spirit of something amazing and wonderful. Still, there were dangers. He was captured and held hostage by a gang of rodents who proudly called themselves the Pi-Rats. Meanwhile, Jeremy tried sweeping, far reaching measures to have his pet returned. He prayed and sent off a letter to Santa Clause. But most of all, the boy believed. Jeremy understood the power of belief. He knew Candy would be home by Christmas.Snow fell through the broken skylight on the old factory, and Candy knew he would have to find a place to stay warm. When he crawled into the man shaped machine, the hamster was delighted to find a beautiful running wheel. But he was even more amazed to discover what happened when he ran on the magnificent gear. Yes, there was power when he ran, power enough to drive a Cyber Animated Network Entity, or CANE. Candy and CANE became best of friends. Christmas was coming, so the magic had only just begun. Because of Jeremy, Candy, CANE, and their belief Christmas miracles were about to unfold.
