Allen was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri. He grew up in a family where the parents encouraged outdoor activities, laughter and the ability to dream. Attending Kennard Elementary School, Allen had very little interest in books or reading. Interest in reading developed towards the end of his senior year at Southwest High School and continued to develop as he attended the University of Central Missouri and Southeast Missouri State University. It took fifty years before Allen decided to take to the pen and brush. When he finally did he added a twist of imagination, a dot of humor and a stack of real-life adventures to bring his stories to life. Claude is the commander of a highly trained group of bullfrog astronauts.
