I wanted to create a special books for very young girls so parents can read with them to encourage them to dream, use their talents and think about what they want to do when they grow up. It is important for them to appreciate their future opportunities which are far better than those of women many years ago. I also want to help little girls grow up to be young women of quality, good character and self respect. I hope my book gives inspiration to young readers, as well as showing young girls (and boys) the value of women in our society.

Recently orphaned, Toughboy and Sister live with Natasha, an elderly, cantankerous Athabascan Indian. I believe that self-esteem in girls has to be instilled from the earliest possible age. My book shows the progress of a child thinking at length and deciding what kind of person she wants to grow up to be and who she wants to become. Also, she begins to appreciate her own worth. This cannot be taught to female children early enough, to maximize their knowledge of their increased potential and opportunities in the world. I hope the readers will enjoy my book and illustrations and little girls will be encouraged by its contents.
