  • Climb Every Pyramid and Where's My Leaky Snorkel Mask: Taco's Adventures in the Yucatan Peninsula

    Sandy Thompson

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Dec. 5, 2009)
'Climb Every Pyramid and Where's My Leaky Snorkel Mask' is a travel journal of the summer adventures of Taco, from traveling cross-country from the Pacific coast of Mexico to the Yucatan's Caribbean side to be with her husband Vidal, to discovering hidden secrets of the area while he slaved away at work, living glorious personal moments as a self-described archeologist-wannabe, and her non-swimmer's aquatic adventures with a leaky snorkel mask. You will explore through her eyes fantastic places such as the ancient Mayan cities of Tulúm and Cobá, take adventurous tours through the Yucatan jungle and the biosphere of Sia'an Kaan and snorkel in the tranquil waters of the incredible Xel-Ha Lagoon, in search of an elusive parrotfish. Each story is colorfully written, often with her overactive imagination in charge, and in typical Sandy style with a bit of historical trivia thrown in here and there.

  • Composer's World: Mozart

    Wendy Thompson

Hardcover (Faber and Faber Ltd, Oct. 1, 1990)
"Composer's World" is a new series of picture books for readers aged ten upwards, illustrating the lives and times of the world's greatest composers. It examines each composer's life and work within the context of the external factors which influenced his career. Almost 200 years ago Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died in poverty at the age of 35. Born into a Europe dominated by the aristocracy, where composers relied on private patronage to earn their living, Mozart had attempted to break free from the shackles of servitude and become one of the first genuine "freelance" musicians. Though doomed to failure, he nevertheless left us a monumental legacy of over 600 masterpieces. Mozart lived and worked in some of Europe's most beautiful cities, and this illustrated biography brings his world to life. Musical extracts from some of Mozart's best-loved works - in simple keyboard arrangements - are also included.
