On Bubbleland, a psychedelic planet where animals can talk, Jellybig, a talking liver, was ripped from his father’s dying body during a dark decade of mandatory organ donation. Jellybig comes of age stepping over the sad truths of existence like the headstones in the snowy graveyard next to his boarding school. His mentor, Professor Kondor, tricks Jellybig into an internship whose secret purpose is to violate all three of Bubbleland’s capital offenses: no art, no deep questions, and only one specimen of each animal are allowed. When the Che Guavara of Bubbleland, Pony, is busted and the felonious experiment is ultimately uncovered, Professor Kondor is put on trial for his life. Jellybig must defend his beloved, embittered Kondor, or bury his professor’s body in the snow! Jellybig The Talking Liver, a philosophical fantasy, is splashed with both original and translated poetry, is suitable for thoughtful, haunted children and adults, who it hoped will be better prepared for the dark existence on our own planet for having read it.
