The Black Trials

In my world, nothing is sacred anymore. Dreams are monitored by the government. And every year, thousands of sixteen-year-olds are forced to face the worst of their recurring nightmares. Survival of the fittest. Literally. If you survive, you are allowed to join society. Once you become an adult you are assigned a job, you get married, and go about living a so-called normal life. But they are still there, monitoring your dreams. Monitoring you. For fifteen years, they've been watching me. Now it's my turn. This is the year I face my nightmares. And I don't know which is scarier, the thought of my nightmares becoming a reality or that I might actually survive.
