It can easily be read by a child while mom or dad reads the regular book, "Brains Benton and the Case of the Insane Woman Down Memory Lane."Young sleuths Brains and Jimmy have started a detective agency to take on the cases the police think are just not worth the bother. They have a few successes right off, but then Jimmy's older sister, Ann, ask them to look into what is happening to a favorite old teacher of hers. Mrs. Periwinkle has been removed from her teaching job and become a recluse in her own home. Thought of as insane by others, is she really or is there something going on driving her crazy?Follow along as the boys learn that the best way into a crazy woman's house my be right up the wall, and that water int he basement is never a good thing!This is a lighthearted mystery that may be enjoyed by young readers, or even when read to younger children.

Brains and his best friend Jimmy have started a detective agency to take on cases the police just won't take seriously. And, being not-quite-teens themselves, the police do not take them seriously either. But they have a few early successes and it is only when Jimmy's older sister, Ann, asks them to look in on a favorite old teacher of hers who had been fired and sent to a mental institution, that the real mystery begins. Can it really be true that aliens from outer space are out to get her? What the boys learn for certain is that sometimes the best way into a crazy person's house is by climbing up a wall, and that water in a basement isn't at all a good thing! PARENTS NOTE: Brains and Jimmy are very good role models for children showing bravery, intelligence, and a mature attitude toward the main character and her daughter. This book has been rewritten in third person rather than the fist person narrative of the original book to make it easier for younger readers to follow along.

But, he has his reasons. For one, she needs to be trained to defend herself from a murdering religious fanatic.This book is the first two parts of her story and takes her from her comfortable home to the mountains of China, gets her trapped in a deep cavern with a dragon, sends her on a vision quest and sees her making the decision to leave everything she hold dear behind her.
