Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, July 26, 2014)
In 1255, Louis IX of France gifted Henry III of England an unusual gift: an elephant. He built an enclosure for it at the Tower of London, where it lived until 1257. This lost episode from history was the inspiration for Baldwin. With the setting changed to modern day, improbable London resident Baldwin the elephant is joined by three mouse companions on a journey to fulfill their wishes. The mice want tea and scones, but Baldwin wants to be part of something bigger than himself: a queue! The search, beautifully illustrated in pen and watercolor by Lucia Liu, takes them to the neighborhood of Elephant and Castle, to Piccadilly Circus, and finally to the West End theatre district as the friends learn that good things are worth the wait (and the wait is worth the effort).
