  • The Electromotive Force of Iron Under Varying Conditions: And the Effect of Occluded Hydrogen

Theodore William Richards, Gustavus Edward Behr

Paperback (Ulan Press, Aug. 31, 2012)
This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

  • The Electromotive Force of Iron Under, Varying Conditions, and the Effect, of Occluded Hydrogen

    Theodore William Richards

Paperback (Forgotten Books, Oct. 17, 2018)
Excerpt from The Electromotive Force of Iron Under, Varying Conditions, and the Effect, of Occluded HydrogenPhenomena relating to these topics are considered together in this paper, because the method of investigation furnished evidence with regard to both. The matter was considered rather from the theoretical than the practical standpoint. The method was the determination of the electromotive force of iron, after subjection to a great variety of changing conditions, on immer sion in a solution of one of its salts, in order by comparison of these different values of electromotive force to draw inference concerning the state of the metal and its occluded gas.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, July 4, 2015)
Leopold Classic Library is delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive collection. As part of our on-going commitment to delivering value to the reader, we have also provided you with a link to a website, where you may download a digital version of this work for free. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. Whilst the books in this collection have not been hand curated, an aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature. As a result of this book being first published many decades ago, it may have occasional imperfections. These imperfections may include poor picture quality, blurred or missing text. While some of these imperfections may have appeared in the original work, others may have resulted from the scanning process that has been applied. However, our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. While some publishers have applied optical character recognition (OCR), this approach has its own drawbacks, which include formatting errors, misspelt words, or the presence of inappropriate characters. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with an experience that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic book, and that the occasional imperfection that it might contain will not detract from the experience.
