  • Late Night With Superbrat: Ben Franklin Visits Pasadena

    Tony Christensen

    language (, Feb. 4, 2018)
Ben Franklin enjoyed studying electricity, but one night in 1776 he got more than he bargained for! With his faithful dog, Lightning Bolt, he finds himself traveling through time to present-day Pasadena. Dazed and confused, he meets the Patience family, and especially the energetic five-year-old Felicity Patience, a handful of delightful trouble if ever there was one. And Charlotte Patience, Felicity's mother, runs her own business hiring actors to dress as historical figures--there are scads of funny scenes as the misunderstandings pile up! But Ben must still figure out how to return to 1776, and the laughs and the drama will go right down to the wire (or right down to the lightning bolt!). With a cameo by George Washington, this is a fast-moving page-turner that will have your kids inspired and thrilled. In the great tradition of Beverly Cleary's Ramona and Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking, this story is great fun and will captivate both your younger children and preteens!

"A beautiful tribute to America s greatest folksinger. "Woody Guthrie spent his life putting into words and music what the rest of America was thinking. He roamed from coast to coast and captured the despair of those displaced by the Great Depression and the dust bowl, eulogized workers, and celebrated the great natural beauty of America. This is an introductory biography presented as a picture book with a brief lyrical text and powerful, hand-tinted, woodcut-like illustrations. It includes the complete lyrics to This Land Is Your Land and excerpts from his other songs.
