  • River Dawn

    Stephen Graff

    language (, Aug. 12, 2011)
In a bleak, distant future, 15-year-old Alice Page journeys with her scientist father through a dark, flooded world. It is a savage landscape of forest, black water, and death. River dwellers struggle to stay alive, and despots roam the floodplain looking for followers to brainwash and victims to kill. A ruthless preacher and his men are hunting for a mysterious teenage boy. One morning, Alice and her father rescue a boy, named Daniel, left for dead on a wooden barge. Now, as killers close in, she and Daniel must find safe passage. She must also find a way to meet a teenage girl from the past who has been writing her frantic messages on the tattered pages of her journal. On a storm-battered island, in the shadow of an abandoned lighthouse, these two young women will reach out across time and space. Is it one last chance for them to bring hope to the worlds in which they live, or is it too late? RIVER DAWN is a dystopian tale of suspense for adults and older teens.

  • Demon Theory: A Novel

    Stephen Graham Jones

Paperback (Anchor Canada, July 24, 2007)
On Halloween night, following an unnerving phone call from his diabetic mother, Hale and six of his med school classmates return to the house where his sister disappeared years ago. While there is no sign of his mother, something is waiting for them there, and has been waiting a long time. Written as a literary film treatment littered with footnotes and experimental nuances, Demon Theory is equal parts camp and terror, combining glib dialogue, fascinating pop culture references, and an intricate subtext as it pursues the events of a haunting movie trilogy too real to dismiss. There are books about movies and movies about books, and then there’s Demon Theory – a refreshing and occasionally shocking addition to the increasingly popular “intelligent horror” genre.
  • Tramping with a Poet in the Rockies.

    Stephen Graham, Vernon Hill

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, April 24, 2016)
About the Book Poetry as an art form predates written text, with the earliest poetry having been recited or sung, and employed as a way of remembering oral history. The oldest examples of epic poetry include the Epic of Gilgamesh from Bablylon and the Greek epics The Iliad and The Odyssey, and the Indian Sanskrit epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. The longest epic poems in history were the Mahabharata and the Tibetan Epic of King Gesar. Aristotle's Poetics considered that there were three genres of poetry—the epic, the comic, and the tragic. Later aestheticians identified: epic poetry, lyric poetry, and dramatic poetry. One of the most popular form since the Late Middle Ages, is the sonnet, which by the 13th century had become standardized as fourteen lines following a set rhyme scheme. The form had crystallized further by the 14th century and the Italian Renaissance, under the guidance of Petrarch. Also in this Book American poetry arose first as efforts by colonists to add their voices to English poetry in the 17th century, well before the unification of the 13 colonies as a result of thye American War of Independence. Most of the colonists' early poetry relied on British models. During the 19th century, a distinctive American voice began to emerge when, in the later part of that century Walt Whitman began to be recognized internationally. And in this Book English poetry begins with Anglo-Saxon poetry such as the hymn on the creation, which Bede attributes to Cædmon (658–680AD). William Shakespeare was the stand out poet of the Elizabethan period, while Milton was considered the greatest poet of Jacobean and Caroline pe5riod (1603-1670). The Romantic movement was very big, proiducing such greats as William Blake, William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Lord Byron, and John Keats. The major Victorian poets were John Clare, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Robert Browning, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Matthew Arnold and Gerard Manley Hopkins. James Macpherson was the first Scottish poet to gain an international reputation, while Robert Burns is regarded as the national poet of Scotland. The most important figure of Scottish Romanticism, Walter Scott, began as a poet. In Wales the works of the great hymn writers of the 18th and 19th centuries were the poets William Williams Pantycelyn and Ann Griffiths. In the early 20th century there was a Welsh renaissance, with poets like T. H. Parry-Williams and D. Gwenallt Jones and T. Gwynn Jones.About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. • Tell Me the Real Story: The Birth of Master Jesus, the Christ

    Stephen B. Grant

Paperback (Trafford on Demand Pub, July 1, 2003)
'Tell Me the 'Real' Story, The Birth of Master Jesus, the Christ,' is a broader Christmas version about the birth of a great Master, Jesus the Christ, which gives readers a bigger picture. While bridging east/west, the one tapestry called human evolution, it shows his birth in a more esoterical view. Parents, perhaps not as proficient in the larger scope of theologies, can have a book in a language for the young readers, and one to use with the child, thus encouraging inquiring minds to ponder as it lays seeds for ideas to percolate on the subject. As theology, or religious wisdom moves us into a more universal study of 'Oneness,' we realize that children's first exposures need more 'real' (as the kids put it) renditions of events. This book, an easy read with illustrations, that even young children can read with you and take in the basics, is one to be read over the holiday season. When it is read again and again, (as kids like to do) familiarity blossoms. The parent may find themselves with kids out on the back deck/porch searching the night sky for a special star and listening deep into the starry sea for echos of angelic voices heard in the heart, wanting the magic to fill them. This book can help place the commercialism of a special event aside to allow the full spiritual gifts of the event to be re-enjoyed, and let the "spirits" of Christmas tickle you again. It is a perfect gift for a family at anytime but especially at Christ-mas time. Included, (an appendix) is a copy of a universal prayer that does not belong to any one religion, but speaks to the oneness for all of humanity. All can use this prayer and children will readily recognize its 'Wholeness'. (Copies can be obtain through Lucis Trust, NY, NY) Become a Light-bearer of Christmas Spirit and pass a copy of this book onward. Let love, peace, and joy be your staff all through the year. And remember Charlotte's advice to Wilbur in the story Charlotte's Web, "Never hurry, and never worry!" -- E.B. White. Fully enjoy all of the seasons with their very special events and celebrations. Look for "Tell me the Real Story of Easter" and "Tell Me The Real Story of Wesak -- The May Festival", to complete the "Real" Trilogy for the children in your life. Have a merry Christmas.
