  • Shadows of the Midnight Sun

    Graham Brown, Spencer J. Andrews

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Aug. 19, 2013)
...to enter the light, one must first confront their own darkness... In the dark corners of the world, a battle rages for the souls of the damned. They're known as The Fallen, souls afflicted with a curse that leaves them empty, violent, but immortal. The church calls them demons, vampires or the Nosferatu. For centuries a holy order known as The Righteous Fire has sought to destroy them, all the while hiding a secret that connects them, the church, to the beginning of the Nosferatu scourge. But as the events of an ancient prophecy begin to unfold, time may be running out for both groups, as the path ahead may bring forgiveness or destruction to one and all. While investigating a string of disappearances, she sees as connected to her husband's murder, FBI agent Kate Pfeiffer is drawn into this world. She begins to uncover the truth and is faced with a reality she won't believe. Soon she's caught in a clash two thousand years in the making. On one side, the righteous fire, on the other, those who dominate the world of the Fallen. Her only hope may rest with a lost soul trapped in the void between the two worlds, a jaded warrior and a man of many names who's been searching for centuries to find the truth about himself and his destiny. From an ancient Roman battlefield to the streets of New York. From Cologne Germany, to New Orleans and the swamps of Louisiana, time is running out as the fight against evil rages in the Shadows. Shadows of the Midnight Sun is a supernatural thriller and the first book of the Shadows trilogy.

  • Engineering Mathematics: Volume 1

    A. J. Spencer

    Paperback (Springer, May 30, 2013)
This book is the first volume of a two-volume text on mathematics for engineering students in universities and polytechnics, for use in the second and subsequent years of a first degree course. The text is primadly designed to assist engineedng undergraduates and their teachers, but we hope it may also prove of value to students of other disciplines that employ mathematics as a tool, to mathematicians who are interested in applications of their subject, and as a reference book for practising engineers and others. Volume J covers mathematical topics which most engineedng students are required to study; Volume 2 deals with more advanced subjects which are often available as options in the later stages of an undergraduate course. The text is based on courses in mathematics given by the authors to the engineedng students of the University of Nottingham. These courses have evolved over the last sixteen years, and have been developed in close consultation with our fellow teachers in the engineering departments of the University. In preparing the text, we have kept in mind the constraints imposed by the normal three or four year undergraduate course, and we believe that the choice of matedal in the two volumes is realistic in that respect. For completeness, some topics are pursued a little further than an engineedng mathematics lecture course would normally take them, but all the material and examples should be within the grasp of a competent engineering undergraduate student.

  • Golden Enzyme Tales: A Collection of Stories intended for Family Readership

    J Spencer

    (Verdalibre, Jan. 4, 2018)
A new writer, and self-publishing, we all have to start somewhere and this collection of short stories are for a family readership and were first created in 2016. The four stories are independently told. However, they all have a common theme of fantasy fairy-tale, magic, with a sense of humour. In 2018 I collected the stories for children together, because this is something you can do when choosing to self publish. 1. Goblin Boots - The tale tells of a Boot Maker, a Goblin and many pairs of boots, oh yes, and a wife. Some may say they know how the story ends. You will only find out if you read for yourself!2. Heaven Help Us - The story began whilst I sat in a car on a journey to the East Coast, telling tales to keep my children occupied, because their technology was out of signal range. The signal on the East Coast is limited. My daughter had asked what is more important, money or love? Then along came a story, my children liked it when it was told verbally, but I realise now, when the words are on the paper - some stories are meant to be told aloud, others are to be read. So, I ask Dear Adult reader that you inspect this story and decide for yourself whether you want to share it with a child or young person. It is up to you. 3. The Sparrow & a Dog - The Writer for a time had to do a school run, between 2015 to 2017, which incurred a long drive, down through the back roads of the East Riding. The roads often reminded her of the streets of the East Hull, and there was a house that reminded her of her childhood. On this one particular road that she travelled down daily, morning and night, she would often see birds flying low, pheasants walking casually, and even the odd vole and hedgehog trying to cross the road which were expected to be driven along at a range of 40mph to 60mph speed. This story is a little tragic. And my first ever children's tale:The Slimy Frog, I will leave this story to tell itself. Does the story remind you of a fairy-tale you may have read a long time ago?I hope you enjoy reading them, if there are still edits, do let me know. When I am editing, I find myself re-enjoying the stories, so some things bypass me. I am so much better at editing the work of others. The pleasure for me has been in the writing and the sharing of words, these stories are now available in eBook and open for your translation. Thank you if you chose to read this book.
  • Golden Enzyme Tales: A Collection of Stories for Guardians to read to children.

    J Spencer

Paperback (Independently published, June 8, 2019)
Telling tales! Is often considered as something naughty. These tales are told by a mother. This mother likes to tell a tall tale or two. Tales can share so many messages. The desire to read and draw is no longer an essential need, even though our children and families are reading everyday tales, some fact, some fiction. This mother became a writer and chose to share a few very weird fairy-tales, maybe they should simply be called weird tales? This modern woman writer doesn't write simply, and she chose to turn a number of very odd stories into a collection of Golden Enzymes. Why? Why not? If you have strong stomach and cope very well with tragedy - I recommend you take a look. If you don't like fantasy, the absurd and have no sympathy - put the book down and walk away.
  • Goblin Boots: A Golden Enzyme Tale

    J Spencer

    eBook
Goblin Boots is a fantasy story created for family readership. The tale tells of a Boot Maker, a Goblin and many pairs of boots, oh yes, and a wife. Some may say they know how the story ends. You will only find out, if you read for yourself! This peculiar story came to mind after recalling a favourite tale from my own childhood, and choosing to share my own version, an adaptation, with the family. I hadn’t realised so many of my conscious story recalls were based upon the Brothers Grimm Tales. I bought a copy of the Grimm Tales to share more stories with my family directly and couldn’t believe how terrible they were, when I say terrible, I mean shocking. I would often read them aloud, changing the odd word and detail as I went to make it more child friendly. Thank goodness most of the content is pure fantasy. This story may create a lot of questioning from a child listener, so be prepared, and only read it to them if you feel prepared to answer the questions yourself. The beauty of a book: you can read it when YOU’RE ready.Did you ever hear the story about the shoemaker selling shoes, all hand crafted by Elves? If not, you’ve missed out on one of very many good stories told by the Brothers Grimm. Although, Grimm stories were often missing something, for in this peculiar adaptation of a tale, there weren’t elves, but for a single Goblin. And…When you mess with a Goblin… WOAH! They don’t like people knowing their business especially when a deal turns bad. Goblins are happy when they are winning, but hate to lose.Thank you for choosing to read Goblin Boots.
