    The Weather Forecast is part of the Key Skills strand (High Frequency Words) of Cambridge Reading. It is a report of the weather in different areas of the UK, with photographs of children and what they will need to wear that day. Photographs are used to make the books real and relevant to children's own experiences. The language is simple with repetition of high frequency words - ideal for young readers in the Foundation stage (aged 4). There are 20 non-fiction books in the High Frequency Words strand, which provide a comprehensive resource for teaching the 45 NLS high-frequency words. The words are introduced in the context of real texts through three different text types - 'I remember' (recount), 'how to' (instruction) and 'find out about' (report).

The Weather Forecast is in a series of six titles in the Sight Vocabulary: Non-Fiction strand of the Beginning to Read Stage B. This strand provides a comprehensive resource for teaching the 45 high-frequency words - each word appears at least three times in one of the books. There are 20 new BTR sight vocabulary non-fiction titles (8 titles at stage A and 6 at B and C), covering different text types.
