    Stanley Johns

Hardcover (Austin Macauley, July 31, 2020)
Heather loves collecting teddy bears. She has loads of them all around the house that she shares with her husband, Tom. She loves her teddy bears so much that she even dreams about them. The biggest bear is Peter and he arranges a get-together so that he can come to know them and for them all to come to know each other--but Heather and Tom mustn't know about this because it would be unbelievable. So one night, Peter gathers them together around the battery-powered lantern, which they use as a gathering point, and they chat amongst themselves, but they must all be back in their places within the house before Heather and Tom wake up. After their original get-together, they realise that there are some teddies in other rooms and perhaps these teddies don't know about the gathering. So next time they are invited, but there is still another one who they realise is missing because she hasn't heard about these gatherings--Garden Teddy who sits on the patio outside. So she is told about the gathering for their next meeting. After one meeting, Heather finds the lantern out on the rug and not in its usual place in the cupboard--so why is it there?

  • A New Face at the Door, Vol. 2 of 2

    Jane Stanley

Hardcover (Forgotten Books, Feb. 2, 2018)
Excerpt from A New Face at the Door, Vol. 2 of 2Arundel's Greta was different from the girl who had held Jack in the hollow of her hand. The love which had changed the course of her life, had also, in some measure, changed her nature. It was the strongest feeling which she had ever known, too strong to be quite consistent with the childish gaiety which had distinguished Greta. She was as chary of its expression with the new lover as she had been with the old, partly perhaps from a natural reserve, more from the consciousness of treachery which had never quite left her. Arundel's wooing had not been too smooth. He looked to marriage as the one means of healing Greta's conscience, but she had hitherto refused to name a time, much less a day. It was something, that she had been at last brought to consider the question.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
