She is happy to be with her family, but still hasn’t quite forgiven herself for making them worry about her.One afternoon, Neema, the Faerie she freed from the wizard’s lantern, returns seeking her help. Her people are dying, and she’s convinced Emma can save them, and do it in only a few minutes. The plea proves hard to resist, and Emma soon discovers cursed animals are attacking the faeries. Even though some Silverbells have perished, they are hesitant to kill the creatures. Their queen hopes Emma can find a way to save both animals and faeries alike.Far from her family in a strange magical forest, Emma feels too small for the task set before her, but cannot abandon the faeries to their fate—even if it means she may never find her way home.

  • A Dog for Life

    L.S. Matthews

Hardcover (Delacorte Books for Young Readers, Oct. 10, 2006)
This is the true story of the journey of John Hawkins and his dog, Mouse, from way up north to way down south. Mouse has been John and his brother Tom's dog for life. They got her as a puppy when they were just little themselves, and they very quickly discovered that they could understand everything Mouse said and she could do the same. She was just a person like everyone else--though maybe a bit cleverer than most. You've maybe heard that John "ran away with his pet dog." But the truth about this story is that John and Mouse made the journey to save Tom. It's hard to pinpoint when Tom became truly ill, but when the doctors said they had to send Mouse away for fear of infection, the boys knew they had to do something. Without Mouse, Tom would never recover. The journey began to find a temporary home for Mouse, but once they'd set off, nothing turned out the way they'd planned.

  • Winter Warmers Silly & Serious: Poems to warm you through winter

    Sandra Matthews

eBook (Sheephouse Books, Oct. 19, 2019)
A delightful and uplifting book of poems which the editor described as "very playful and poignant writing" . This small book, by Irish Author Sandra Matthews, packs a punch. Poems about anything from farting to bereavement, kids who won't do house work to New Year resolutions (or not!) and from friendship to the aches and pains of getting older. There is a poem about Santa that the kids will enjoy too (and the grown up kids). Sandra Matthews has been writing for many years. Now at last she is starting to publish her work to share with a wider audience. This book "Winter Warmers Silly & Serious" is the first in a four part series. It will be followed over the next year with its Spring, Summer and Autumn counterparts. Sandra will also be publishing (in the next few weeks) a book of her favourite poems, written over the last ten years. Look out for it too! Sandra has been writing since childhood and recalls that even when taking formal English exams, she used story to get points across. Her English teacher gave up on trying to change this and instead explained to Sandra, that while any question could be answered through story, it was important to ensure the point of the answer shone through clearly. Sandra lives in Dublin, Ireland, with her husband, her grown up kids, three dogs and two bunnies. She insists on poetry being for everyone. If it means something to you then you are right. Don't let anyone try to convince you that it should mean something else. Authenticity and good sense of humour shine through the poems in this book. They are values Sandra holds very highly. This little book will be read again and again and will bring cheer and an occassional tear to its readers. It contains 30 poems. This book would be a good Christmas gift for Mum or a gift for dad who has everything. Or perhaps it would make a meaningful gift for teachers. Gifts for sisters and brothers are hard to find too. Maybe this little book would be appreciated.
