About the Author and Happy Stories Collection: Harry, Lilly and the Magical Wood is the sixth of the Happy Stories Collection to be published on Kindle. Written by leading psychologist Dan Mathews, the Happy Stories Collection are a collection of books that have been specifically constructed to help children learn different words and uses of language, from a very early age. By carefully choosing which words are used and how they are used, Dan Mathews has managed to produce a collection of books that are fun to read, stimulating and education. By carefully choosing where difficult words are placed, children are more easily able to remember words that they may have previously skipped over after quickly deeming them too difficult. Above all, the Happy Stories Collection is a set of fun and exciting books that can be enjoyed by both child and parent.Harry, Lilly and the Magical Wood (Book 6), is a short story that has been specifically aimed at ages 4-6, though children of all age may also enjoy and benefit from this book.About The Book: After being taken to a woodland park for a daytrip, Harry and Lilly discover that the wood is a magical place. After speaking to a butterfly called The Painted Lady, they are directed toward a magical cottage, which is a little different to how they expected. The Happy Stories Collection are intended to be fantastic, magical, educational and overall, fun. It is hoped that both adult and child enjoy the series.
  • The Happy Stories Collection: Harry and Lilly Find Magic

    Dan Mathews

language (Dan Mathews, May 10, 2014)
Both Harry and Lilly hate this part of the day. It is very early in the morning and the house is noisy and very busy. Their dad is, as usual, late for work and can be occasionally seen rushing between the bathroom and the kitchen at near the speed of light, which is very, very fast indeed. In fact, some say that the speed of light is even faster than a fly flies after it has been kissed by a hippopotamus. It is hard to confirm this though, as no one has managed to catch a fly after it has been kissed by a hippopotamus. They fly so very fast you see. In fact, it is thought that they fly at almost the speed of light!Tom, their older brother can be heard noisily bumping around the house as he slowly gets ready for school. Their mom can be seen casually moving around them all, quietly going about her business. To Harry and Lilly, breakfast time is mayhem. It is the peak of summer and the sun is happily dancing bright outside. During the summer, Harry and Lilly love more than anything to play in the garden from first thing in the morning until last thing at night; which for them is about three o’clock. At three o’clock, they have to go with their mom to pick Tom up from school. Each school day is the same for Harry and Lilly; their dad drops Tom off at school on his way to work and they go with their mom to pick him up again at 3:30pm.Lilly suggested that Tom might want to stay at school for an extra couple of hours during the summer months so they could have a little more time in the garden. Harry thought this was a great idea, but Tom seemed less taken with the idea for some reason.Lilly explained to Harry that it was because Tom did not understand what was at the bottom of their garden. In fact, no one other than Lilly and Harry understood what was at the bottom of their garden.Toward the end of their garden, which is about ten cars or five hundred hands long, there is a natural slope, which leads to a small stream. In the middle of autumn, the stream gushes with rainwater and fills with leaves from the trees. In the thick of winter, it freezes solid with ice and snow from Jack Frost. In the centre of spring and apart from a little blossom, the stream runs clear and teems with new life. Tadpoles can be quite pretty you know, though they stay hidden until very late spring. Some are very sleepy indeed. They stay hidden right up until summer!Harry thinks they may be solar powered, which is why we only see them once the sun is out and in full bloom. Lilly thinks Tom is solar powered because apart from school, he only goes out during the summer. From autumn through to winter and right through until spring, Tom can be found either at school or in his bedroom—hibernating.
