    Ten year old Danny and his sister Emmie are on holiday with their Grandad and Nanny down by the coast in Merlin’s Corner when they find buried in the sand a strange shaped bottle with funny symbols placed on it.When a storm forces them into an old fisherman’s hut the bottle top comes undone and as wisps of smoke appear a tall man with white beard and shoulder length hair, wearing a long blue cloak, a small conical hat with a blue star on it and what looks like the carpet slippers that their Grandad wears indoors appears. He says his name is Merlin.He tells them that many years ago his spirit was trapped inside the bottle by another wizard called Tarlin who wanted to rule the World and he was still alive and close to achieving it, needing only to find a mysterious Ring of Avalon which was lost when the wizards fought.It seems that fate has conspired for Merlin to reappear and for the children to help him stop Tarlin as he cannot do it on his own for his power had been seriously reduced due to his time inside the bottle.The final fight takes place in the grounds of Seven House where Tarlin had made an awesome machine of immense power that was just days from being unleashed on the World, with catastrophic consequences.When Tarlin is finally beaten after a terrific battle and the Ring of Avalon located Merlin has to return to his own time, leaving Danny & Emmie with memories of their best holiday ever.
