  • In The Trenches The Voice Of A Guidance Counselor

    Phillip Robinson

    (, Dec. 29, 2017)
"In The Trenches The Voice of A Guidance Counselor", fictionalizes stories and poems of students from elementary to high school. It attempts to capture some of their daily challenges. In the design of this book it also shares some of the day-to-day struggles young people have in obtaining their education and discovering their self worth. To acquire this sacred quest of an education, it is usually done for many of them amidst intense peer-pressure, bullying, and their working through issues of sexual-identity. etc. "In The Trenches The Voice of A Guidance' is written through the eyes of a former guidance counselor, Philip Robinson who retired in 2016. He had worked for the City of Boston a total of thirty-two years, twenty-nine of them were in the Boston Public Schools. Philip has had a front-row seat at three different schools to witness the constant tug-a-wars some students have had with their personal development. He writes about them with no clear definitive answers. However, he attempts to spell out that no child is alone in whatever it is they are confronting. "In The Trenches The Voice of A Guidance", implies in most cases the school settings have a variety of concerns. These schools consist of support staff including teachers, principals, school nurses, and guidance counselors, and administrators to assist with providing safe havens where students will be heard, respected and are encouraged to believe they are someone!

There was no conceivable trouble of terrestrial origin that could touch herโ€”or would want to. And, as it turned out, I was right in that respect.I was right in another respect too. By finishing my thesis I became a Ph.D. on schedule, and if I had abandoned all that and rushed to Sumac the moment I received the telegram it could not have materially altered the outcome of things. And Aunt Matilda, hanging on the wall of my study, knitting things for the Red Cross, will attest to that.
