    Robert Hare

Paperback (Forgotten Books, Oct. 26, 2017)
Excerpt from A Compendium of the Course of Chemical Instruction in the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania, Vol. 1 of 2: Comprising the Chemistry of Heat and Light, and That Inorganic Substances, Usually Called Inorganic ChemistryIn all cases of liquefaction or fusion which have been examined, analogous results have been Observed; whence it is generally believed that whenever a solid is converted into a. Liquid, its particles unite with a portion Of the material cause Of heat, which becomes latent, as in the case Of ice in melting. The evidence is equally strong in favour Of the inference that in passing from the liquid to the aeriform state, ponderable matter combines with, and renders latent even a larger quantity Of heat in proportion to its weight, than in cases Of liquefaction.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
