Is Sean really a troll switched at birth or just an imaginative kid who can change carrots into broccoli and understand gerbils? Eleven year-old Josh Fielding believes heβs a troll, or something troll-like; a changeling switched by his parents with the real Josh at birth. From his earliest childhood memories he knows that too many strange and magical things have happened in his life to explain in any other, logical way. And now this supernatural curse has placed one of his best friends, Sarah, in mortal danger. Has she, too, been replaced? Are his other friends in peril? Who is he and what is he becoming?Hector, a precocious and imaginative boy with no innate powers but who aspires to world domination, is a wannabe arch-villain with an aversion to contractions who usually does the right thing despite his best efforts. Hector imagines that he and Josh are life-long foes and that his subjugation of Josh will be the foundation of his power. He has three friends, or minions: Lucy, an indomitable chatty girl with an unrequited infatuation with Hector; Jordan, a former bully; and Marvin who believes he is a reincarnated boy named Caleb who was shot in his bed during the Civil War.Together, Josh and Hector must reluctantly join, along with their friends and minions, to rescue Sarah who has been abducted by evil supernatural creatures. They will learn that nothing is more powerful than friends and family.
