(29 poems celebrating the disciple of the Crucifixion-Resurrection) On the cover of this book, you see a composite of two paintings. BELOW is the The Deposition (1507) by Raphael. The now empty Calvary is visible in the upper right. Jesus’ earthly-body is dead. He is being carried to the tomb. Mary Magdalene, in red, is visible toward the center left. Her hair is reddish-blonde. She stands protectively over Jesus’ body. ABOVE is Holy Women at Christ’s Tomb (c. 1590s) by Annibale Carracci. Mary Magdalene, in red, is carrying an alabaster jar. The twelve abandoned Jesus to Calvary. They broke faith. Mary Magdalene of the Crucifixion-Resurrection was Jesus’ only disciple on Calvary. Her faith was never broken.
