Away away, escape the Ghost King’s cave! The two young protagonists, Sefene Valentine and Adrian DePagio, are fleeing the World of Cavern. Sefene is a snotty, spoiled princess from a conquered land being wed to the King of Ghosts. Adrian is an intelligent young street performer and scam artist looking to hit it big. The 19 year old Sefene has just had her reality turned upside down. Everyone in her kingdom used to treat her special because she had status, beauty and power. And it worked. Up until marauders with no reason to care for her or her world attacked it and kidnapped her. Now she finds herself engaged to the King of Ghosts, the biggest jerk she’s ever seen, and with her world destroyed, she has nobody at all. That is until she meets the other protagonist, the 15 year old Adrian DePagio. Adrian on the other hand didn’t go from everything to nothing like Sefene did. He has always had nothing. He feels the world is always against him because he’s had to assume people mean to do him wrong before right. It’s the only way he’s survived in the fiendish World of Cavern even to his young age of 15. The two of them meet each other the night of the engagement party when Adrian is putting on a circus act. He helps her escape the Ice Castle, and the two of them bond with each other and learn more about themselves, and each other. The escape to daylight won’t be easy. Ragla, King of Ghosts is not going to let his bride make a fool of him. He sends an imperial rider, the Red Horseman Hannibal, to chase them down and bring her back. To flee the Cavern World and reach the free world above, they first have to find a way out of the impregnable Ice Castle of Ragla, then the outer Fire Citadel. And should they escape the imperial reach of the Ghost King, there’s still all the matter of the perilous cavern frontier. Deserts of ice and fire, forests quite literally chained together to prevent the evil tree spirits from rising in rebellion. And of course, dizzying climbs on evil towers. Towers with faces on them. Because. Should they overcome everything? They aren’t sure what they will find. They only know they don’t like what they currently have and will trade it for the trouble they don’t know.
