  • Hist Whist: And Other Poems for Children

    E. E. Cummings

    eBook (Liveright, Nov. 17, 1983)
Now children can claim for their very own the puddle-wonderful (mudluscious) world where buds know better than books don't grow, where little itchy mousies with scuttling eyes rustle and run and hidehidehide, and the ree ray rye roh rowster shouts rawrOO. Cummings's poetry more than that of any other major American poet keeps faith with childhood. These twenty poems were selected by him and published privately in 1962. Hist Whist combines the original twenty poemes enfantins with the first appearance of the beautiful and evocative line drawings of the young California artist David Calsada. His sensitive pen has captured the spirit of Cummings's poems in its detailed rendering of a world that only poets and children can see.
  • Wandl the Invader

    Ray Cummings

Paperback (Wildside Press, May 8, 2007)
There were nine major planets in the Solar System, and it was within their boundaries that man first set up interplanetary commerce and began trading with the ancient Martian civilization. And then they discovered a tenth planet -- a maverick! This tenth world, if it had an orbit, had a strange one, for it was heading inwards from interstellar space, heading close to the Earth-Mars spaceways, upsetting astronautic calculations and raising turmoil on the two inhabited worlds. But even so none suspected then just how much trouble this new world would make. For it was WANDL THE INVADER and it was no barren planetoid. It was a manned world, manned by minds and monsters and traveling into our system with a purpose beyond that of astronomical accident!

  • 100 Selected Poems

    e. e. cummings

Paperback (Grove Press, March 15, 1954)
    e. e. cummings is one of my favorite poets, and this collection of his poems is a treat for any fan of his verse. The innovativeness of his language and the freshness of his images are continuously inspiring. It is sometimes hard to believe that most of these poems have been written well over half a century ago - they have all aged remarkably well. This is a testament to the simplicity and the permanence of the themes and ideas that e. e. cummings dealt with, and the original and inimitable way that he approached them. And if you are not already familiar with e. e. cummins' writings, this collection is one of the best places to start getting to know this great American poet.
