  • Norman Rockwell Coloring Book

    Pomegranate

    Paperback (Pomegranate, May 31, 2009)
Norman Rockwell was an American painter who lived from 1894 to 1978. Have you ever heard the expression 'A picture is worth a thousand words'? Well, Norman Rockwell's paintings are good examples of that. As you look at them, you will discover that each one tells a story. You'll find out more and more about the people he painted--where they live, what they like to do, and what kind of trouble they get into--the longer you gaze at the pictures. You can even imagine what they are thinking! From 1916 to 1962, Norman Rockwell created the 22 paintings in this book to be covers of a magazine called The Saturday Evening Post. They are shown as small reproductions on the inside front and back covers. When you color these pictures, you might want to try to copy his colors, or you might decide to use your own. The last page of this book is blank so that you can draw and color your own picture that tells a story. It can be about you and people you know, like your family, your friends, or your teachers. Try to tell the whole story, as Norman Rockwell did, by putting in as much detail as you can.Pomegranate's Norman Rockwell Coloring Book features 22 comical drawings from Rockwell's iconic Saturday Evening Post illustrations. The forty-eight page 8 1/2 x 11 inch book has 22 coloring pages that are blank on the back so they can be cut out and displayed. • Frank Lloyd Wright Art Glass Coloring Book

    Pomegranate

    Paperback (Pomegranate, May 31, 2009)
Pomegranate's Art Glass coloring book features 14 drawings based on original glass designs by Frank Lloyd Wright. Coloring pages are translucent and blank on the back so they can be cut out and displayed on a window (each 8 1/2 x 11 inches). Each illustration is reproduced in a small, color version of the original artwork and as a full-page black line drawing. The architect and designer Frank Lloyd Wright (American, 1867 1959) single-handedly changed how Americans thought about houses, insisting on more light, less clutter, freer movement from room to room, and the honesty of good materials displaying their natural color and texture. Driven by the belief that the places people live and the things they use every day should reflect the surrounding landscape--he called this an 'organic' way of creating new objects--Wright designed many of the furnishings for his famous houses, churches, and commercial buildings. He gave special attention to windows and loved to decorate them with art glass designs. You'll find fourteen translucent images in this coloring book, adapted from Wright's windows and lights. The designs, as adapted, are shown as small pictures inside the front and back covers. You'll notice the many straight lines used to make patterns, which sometimes look like familiar things such as plants and flowers. When you color in a picture, you might want to make something close to the original, or you might decide to use colors that are quite different.
